Green Infrastructure Plan
Hawkins Partners has partnered with AMEC to develop a comprehensive Green Infrastructure Master Plan for Metro Water Services within the 14 square mile combined sewer overlay area to guide future stormwater infrastructure investments. This plan involved participation and input from many Metro departments including Metro Parks, MDHA, Metro Public Works and Metro Nashville Public Schools.
The project identified low impact development (LID) strategies, provided documentation for effectiveness of LID strategies, and made assessments and recommendations for prototype LID projects within Metro Nashville, including water harvesting for irrigation and flushing water, green roofs, permeable pavements, green streets and bioretention to reduce stormwater volume therefore overflows. The master plan also identified potential incentives for encouraging LID design.
