Knoxville Bridge Competition

In 2010, Palmer Engineering and Hawkins Partners were selected as one of three finalists to participate in the competition for a pedestrian bridge crossing the Tennessee River in Knoxville. The design was inspired by the river morphology and wildlife associated with the river (i.e. snakes, mussels, etc). The design seeks to redefine the bridge as more than a pedestrian and bicycle connection and to develop it as a public space with gathering opportunities.
