Hawkins Partners worked alongside the Chattanooga Housing Authority, Chattanooga Design Studio, local stakeholders, and the design team to engage with the community and to envision the future of the James A. Henry building and surrounding Sheila Jennings Park. HPI participated in several visioning sessions to verify and evolve the program and needs of the community from what was captured in the original Westside Evolves process.

Proposed improvements to the James A. Henry building include the expansion of the building footprint and renovation to create a hub for community-serving amenities. The adjacent Sheila Jennings Park will include multi-purpose spaces, enhanced landscaping and outdoor spaces that will benefit the health and wellbeing of the neighborhood. The park design blends multiple program elements to serve people of all ages and abilities.
