11th Ave.

Complete Street

In a popular neighborhood that lacked enough outdoor and green space, Hawkins Partners worked with the Nashville Department of Public Works and Metro Parks to design this neighborhood  improvement. As  part of the 11th Avenue Complete Street design team in The Gulch district, we reclaimed unused area under the Church Street bridge, and extended it to include a half-mile stretch of parklike space.

The new area incorporates pedestrian sidewalks, fixed exercise stations, new lighting and also offers the public a protected cycle track and green infrastructure elements that enliven important pedestrian and vehicular connections and connect into the Gulch Greenway. In addition to all the other benefits of plantings, we designed these to work in bioretention planters to treat stormwater runoff from the adjacent streets.
