28th/31st Ave Connector

As a part of the 28th/31st Ave. Connector design team, and working with the Department of Public Works, Hawkins Partners (HPI) developed construction documents for this new streetscape project in Nashville, TN. This boulevard not only increases mobility and access in this area of the city, but is an important link that re-establishes a connection between Nashville’s North and West neighborhoods. The 28th/31st Avenue Connector is designed as a complete street and incorporates multi-modal transportation. HPI is responsible for the bicycle and pedestrian amenities, bridge aesthetics, and sustainable stormwater elements for this green street.

HPI also coordinated with the Metro Arts Commission and Metro’s Percent for Public Art program to integrate artist opportunities into the design of the streetscape, and involved the local community in developing the inspiration and direction for the proposed artwork.

Additionally, HPI was a part of the C.E.I. team that observed construction.
