Kim Hawkins Named in Nashville Post's 2026 "In Charge" List
Hawkins Partners founding principal Kim Hawkins has been named to Nashville Post's 2026 "In Charge" list, an annual recognition of the people shaping Nashville's growth across real estate, development, and design. Kim was honored in the publication's Real Estate category, alongside a small group of leaders the Post credits with keeping the city moving forward.
A Firm Rooted in Nashville's Story
Kim founded Hawkins Partners in 1986, at a time when Nashville looked very different than it does today. Since then, she has led the firm alongside her husband Gary Hawkins, now principal emeritus, and senior partner Brian Phelps, building a practice known for shaping some of the city's most recognizable places. Hawkins Partners' portfolio includes work on Nashville Yards, Geodis Park, and Fifth + Broadway, projects that have played a defining role in the city's downtown transformation over the past decade.
This isn't Kim's first time on the list. She was previously recognized in Nashville Post's In Charge rankings in 2017 and 2018, a reflection of her sustained influence in the local development and civic planning community over the years.
Beyond the Firm
Kim's impact reaches well beyond Hawkins Partners' project work. She has served in leadership roles with the Urban Land Institute, including as the first president of its Tennessee chapter, and has contributed her expertise to organizations including the Nashville Airport Authority, the Land Trust of Tennessee, and the Civic Design Center, which she helped found under its original name, the Urban Design Forum. That civic involvement has helped shape the way Nashville approaches growth, open space, and community design at a citywide level.
Congratulations, Kim
The entire Hawkins Partners team congratulates Kim on this well-earned recognition. Her vision continues to guide the firm's work and, in no small part, the city she has helped build for nearly four decades.
